A very familiar face continues this week in the Undignified characters of the Bible. Former Gateway Minister, Eddie Levick (1980-1990) gives an inspirational message about the type of undignified life Jesus was all about living and how that challenges us to live the same way.
Have you ever been in a place where you thought life was at it's worst? Perhaps it was because of something you did, or that someone else did. Imagine God telling you that He wanted you to tell a story to someone, and he thought the best way to tell it was to make YOU the object lesson and marry a prostitute! Ummmm... God? I might be able to think of a better way? "Nope" says God. "Go out and find one. Then I want you to name your children awful names on purpose, you know... to send Israel a message." That doesn't sound like God right? (AHEM... Abraham and Isaac) But even in the mess, God showcases His brilliance and the distance He is willing to go for even one person who thinks they might have gotten so far away that they think their relationship is beyond repair. That's when God does the completely unexpected. Journey with us and The Bible Project in today's lesson through the book of Hosea.
In the opening sermon of the new Undignified series, Jeremy explains and challenges hearts through the comparison of two hearts. The hearts of King David and his wife Michal. But what leads her from a heart that originally loved David to a heart that despises him. Can the same thing happen to us? While David is willing to look foolish for the heart of God, Michal is caught up in status. Her father modeled that well for her.
The Final Lesson in the Next Steps Series. Don't be fooled... it isn't 10 minutes. In leading up to Gateway's Annual Ministry Fair Showcase, lays out the opportunities to serve as well as the differences between belonging to and benefitting from being a member of Gateway.
This sermon is the third in a series containing 4 sermons specifically designed for the Gateway Membership. It lays out the Vision of the Gateway Leadership for the members of Gateway. If you've ever wondered what the leaders of your church expect from you, wonder no more, this layout is what is expected here.
Today is a day where we showcase many of the ongoing opportunities Gateway has for plugging people into membership. For those who wish to belong and contribute their gifts, take a peek at the many things going on, and don't miss your chance to connect.
The first sermon in the Next Steps series spends some time explaining what type of church God expects us to be. If you have ever had questions regarding what church should be about and why some churches have the expectations they do, this is the lesson for you.
When the other voices in our life are too loud, we cannot effectively walk in the Spirit. In today's final sermon in the series, Jeremy gives two practical steps for staying in step and silencing the noise.
